A large collection of period wagons, farming tools, wagons, and antique firetrucks. Each one tells a story of the rugged landscape and how simplicity and perseverance helped build what you see today!
Our vast outdoor exhibits are great to take kids for a more interactive and in-situ feel.
First used in 1910, the Golden Valley School was located 16 miles northwest of Glendive and 1/2 miles off the Bloomfield Road. It now resides on our property and contains several period items and some of the original furniture.
Take a peek at what it might have been like on the cold prairie, Then take a moment to think on that time grand dad mentioned walking uphill both ways. You may grow an appreciation for it, if not believe it a bit more.
The log cabin was the first building and later the first post office (1918) of the small community of Paxton, Montana. Which is just east of what is now McCone County. It is furnished with items common to that period.
